4 Minute’s Awkward 4 Minutes with Amerie

Following the hot heels of other American artists like Lady Gaga for M.Net or Jason Derulo on his tour of shows with Brian Joo, is Amerie, who returns to Korea with girl group 4 Minute to promote her latest album, In Love & War. The last time we saw the half-Korean chanteuse grace the stages of the country was back in 2007 when she was promoting her single, Take Control, with R&B crooner, Se7en.

But as much as I adore and respect Amerie, I must say that her choice of collaborating with 4 Minute was an incredibly blind-sighted decision made in haste and pure Korean pop ignorance. Because as we all know, 4 Minute is just minutes away from becoming K-Pop debris, dusted off from the stage in a matter of a hot second.

In their horrific performance of Heard ‘Em All on Music Bank we see a glimpse of just how egregiously lost these girls are and just why they’re at the bottom of the girl group totem pole. For instance their awkward pause at around :12-:16–seriously, what in Andre Kim’s spray-on helmet dome piece was that?

The 4 Minute girls continue to terrorize Amerie’s performance by confusedly attempting the choreography while tripping along in their lines. Add their improvisational “sexy” dance at 1:38 and their pitchy singing throughout and you one hot hot hot mess of a show.

Come on girls! If you’re going to try and act fierce and sexy commit to it! Or well, you know, just practice?

What do you think, fellow K-Poppin’ fans? Was 4 Minute the best choice or who would have been a better match?

Amerie needs to hook up with Beyonce or Rhianna if she wants to move up to the next level with her career. this wacky k-pop stuff ain’t gonna cut it here in America.

ahaha the article is funny tho. it kind of goes both ways. amerie is not that great in the US at this moment.. just like 4 minutes isn’t that great in korea. but 4 minute’s style definitely does not match amerie. if anything it should’ve been brown eyed girls cuz they’re on the more mature/sexy/edgy image.

I’m not the biggest fan of 4minute, cuz i’m not, and it took me a good while to warm up to the group some (lol) and i personally think that a couple of the members are a bit young for the context of the song/performance.
That aside i think the performance was just fine for what it was. I mean it wasn’t a vocal gymnastics of a song to begin with. I don’t think the group of thier talent had anything to do with it. Though I wish Amerie had song more in it.

Who would you recommend for a collab with instead if it wasn’t that group?
The only one I can think of is After School. However my favorite girl group is B.E.G

You made a big deal out of nothing
the song doesnt require any vocal prowess, so they did it justice
they choreograpghy was as the same in the video & was exectuted fine
the only gripe is that Amerie could’ve sung a lot more
