Another American has been detained in North Korea, and will be tried in court for trespassing. Aijalon Mahli Gomes is the fourth American to be detained for crossing the North Korean border. In the past year Laura Ling, Euna Lee, and Robert Park were all detained for allegedly doing the same.
No trial date has been set yet.

One of the the biggest Asian cinema events to hit Southern California opens on May 10. The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, presented by Visual Communications, features the latest works by established and emerging filmmakers, along with seminars, panel discussions and symposiums on topics relevant to Asian Pacific cinema.
Opening Night features “Shanghai Calling,” directed by Daniel Hsia and starring Korean American Daniel Henney, who plays a Chinese American expat lawyer navigating his way through the mean streets of Shanghai (the picture above also indicates he is a raisin smuggler). I don’t like acting judgmental nor looking at things so rigidly, however, when 3 persons in the recent past did the same thing and were incarcerated, under who knows what conditions, I think it would’ve been wise to learn from their mistakes.
There’s no need for you to play ‘martyr’ or ‘activist.’ You can lose your life over ‘fruitless crusades’ as such.
