If you thought Justin Derulo’s chart-topping single, “In My Head” was a catchy, addictive tune, chances are you’ll probably be perplexed at Brian Joo’s own K-pop version of the same song. The singer released a Korean version–auto-tune attached–with a music video. And in the video, Joo frolics around while the camera awkwardly sits upon that one girl from High Kick who fails in her attempt to look sexy in her curveless, pale complexion but does succeed in the art of looking bored and confused. Sad. And what’s up with the cinematography with its dated, saccharinely soft early-2000s K-pop feel? Brian, this ain’t Day By Day!

But this isn’t the first time a Korean singer remade a current pop song. Remember Wheesung’s “Insomnia?” It was clear that Wheesung’s own version was far superior than that of Brit-crooner Craig David, but we’re sorry that we can’t say the same for Mister Joo.

What do you think, fellow K-pop fans? Is the new single as good, better, or far worse than the original?

This…is not “kpop.” I never even heard of this. It’s not like this particular record is selling millions of records.

Kpop is admired because its recent shade is very original, innovative, creative and very artistic. I don’t understand why Korean Americans don’t embrace their own popular culture. If you kept uptodate with kpop you’d see why so many people idolize the undeniable talent that is only getting better. BoA’s “Hurricane Venus”, SHINee’s “Lucifer,” SNSD “Run Devil Run.” or even more hip-hop sounds like Taeyang’s “I Need A Girl,” or 4Minute’s “I My Me Mine.” Google and take a listen. Hard work is put into cultivating such talent and such concepts. And the polished abilities of the most successful artists are indubitable.

This website does not even acknowledge the success, the power, the influence and supremacy of Korean Culture. “Hallyu.” The power of Korean culture and how it echoes into Japan to Taiwan and China to Thailand and even to South America and in the States…….It’s a shame “Koreams” are too ignorant to acknowledge where they came from.. Have fun immersed the States. 좋은 속 시원 할거야!

Omg, i def dont agree that he ruined the damn song, i loved it! in fact it might be better, Brian has strong vocals and instead of the more sexual lyrics that Jason had in his song, Joo’s Version is more touching and romantic, im not in love with brian but he has a pretty good voice, but ah-greed the girl does look a bit out of place O.o

I still do not understand why people are so obsessed with K-Pop….They will not make a difference or have glimmer of positive impact in the States! All K-Pop is, is watered down less-creative, less-original, and less-appealing versions of American boy bands THAT DON’T EXIST ANYMORE! There is a reason why boy bands and etc don’t exist anymore and it is mind boggling to me how people think that these artists in Korea are supposed to be something special! I am all about Koreans and very proud to be a Korean but come on, K-Pop isn’t going to do anything in the world of music or culture. We NEED more REAL artists meaning artist that can make a cultural impact on Korean-Americans and etc, we need more Big Phony’s, Pricilla Ahns, and etc….These are the people that are taken seriously in the media not boy band or k-pop crap that only a certain sub group will pay attention to……WAKE UP!
