The grassroots art movement Mercy, Not Sacrifice will be hosting its fourth Charity Art and Music Extravaganza on June 30 at the Syrup Loft in Los Angeles’ Garment District. The art and music event will feature a variety of bands and DJs performing everything from alternative rock to reggae to house music. A number of notable Asian American artists and photographers will be showcasing their work.
All proceeds from the show will be donated to Mercy Ships, a global charity that operates on hospital ships in developing nations. Mercy Ships provides medical equipment and resources to health care workers, construction and renovation services to health care facilities, and education about basic health care and agriculture to communities around the world. It’s the new year, and Yim Jae Beum is coming to town! After a sold-out show in Los Angeles last October, he is coming back to hold two U.S. concerts for the 2012 Lunar New Year. Everyone already knows this man can sing! He’s got an impressive resume, debuting as a rock singer back in 1986, releasing Korean classics, such as “For You,” and most recently, joining and winning first place twice on the MBC show, “I am a Singer.”

Intermixing modern with traditional, this event will undoubtedly rock your world. World Champion B-Boy group Last for One and Haegum Plus, a fusion music ensemble, bring unique elements of their respective realms on stage at the Ford Theater on Saturday, Sept. 10.
Master instrumentalist Kang Eun-il and her team mesh modern composition and world styles with Korean music. Catch this, though. They use traditional instruments to create their art. Now, Last for One will prove their world champ status with some quality break dancing.
