EXCLUSIVE: The Details of the Upcoming Koreatown Reality Series!

We all heard through the blogosphere that a new series was looking for the next pickle-breathed Snookie and Pauly Shore-faced “The Situation” for a new Los Angeles Koreatown-based show, but how many exactly have already applied?

A source tells me exclusively that although a preliminary cast has already been chosen, HD Pictures–Tyrese Gibson’s production company–are still sifting through over 500 applications they’ve since received.

(Don’t know what a K-towner looks like? Here are some sample Koreatown boys and girls below to emulate courtesy of KTown 213):

The same source also tells me that filming has already begun and that the entire crew was even filmed at a local Koreatown noraebang singing 2NE1 songs–“Tyrese was there too,” the source quips.

But don’t get your hopes up, reality show hopefuls! Though there has been a preliminary cast, it has not been finalized. “Things might change after next, next week and the next two days,” the source says of the current casting.

Still seriously considering being on the show? You gotta get through the application first!

Some sample questions below:

Please BE HONEST! Any answer may be verified for accuracy. Don’t answer a question hoping to give us the answer we “want” to hear. We understand some questions you may not be able to or may not want to answer, so just fill out as much as you can to the best of your ability.

Number 8 on the questionnaire is horrible b/c some hopefuls will think they need to get this made and/or online to get considered as applicants for this show… which will really backfire on them in the future, esp. when it comes to future employment (and I’m including entertainment jobs as well). There’s got to be more than just this one reality show idea to showcase what it means to be Asian-American…

wow! This would be a terrible thing to happen in the depiction of Korean Americans! This type of stuff, clearly evident in The Jersey Shore caters to a particular group of people who are unintelligent partier’s who think that being a complete bad ass douche bag is culturally cool. This would be a travesty in the Korean community if this were to actually air. There will always be idiots out there and regardless of what color you are there are idiots in every race, culture, etc….What a horrible image this would send to the ignorant people out there who get sucked into the agenda of the media!

This is horrendous. The fact that this is happening just makes me sick to my stomach…this will only show Koreans in an absolutely horrible light. I think i’ll just claim to be filipino when this comes out.

    I agree with Marie.

This is going to be a disaster… but most likely one I can’t tear my eyes away from. Hope they at least choose some interesting people.

This is the worst thing to ever happen to Korean- Americans. Koreans are already a minority group in America, and it so hard for us to get any roles in American media and be taken seriously. The one time we get a spot on national media is the time where Koreans get mocked as hard partying dumbasses? Are you kidding me? This will destroy our identity in the media. I can’t even imagine the amount of damage this will wreck. I live in New Jersey, and I’ve already been asked in the past if I’m anything like the idiots who are on Jersey Shore. What’s going to happen now? I want to be PROUD to be Korean. I don’t want to hide the fact I’m Korean or be ashamed of who I am. What’s more, some of the people who are PRODUCING this show are Korean. How could they? They obviously have no idea what this is going to do for Koreans. I am beyond horrified.
Also, they’re trying to get non-Asians who are “obsessed with” Asian culture on the show. That is freaking creepy.

Love the idea, but hate the fact that there have been non-Korean’s casted in the show

I watched the youtube clip of this, and all I observed was “gangsta thug killuhs” who were gonna tear shiet up, and the aspiring girls who hope to land further spots in show biz/media; y’all need to lose some weight, cut it out w/ the funky hair colors/styles because show biz is cutthroat when it comes to superficialities–ain’t no second chances in this biz–you’re either hot or not.

And ohhh man, that narcissistic pretty boy, Peter Le, who’s prolly not Korean, this guy’s gonna exacerbate the stereotype that Asian guys are gay. Well, at least gay men got a reason to watch this.

Koreatown …. more than just Koreans frequent the hangouts. So not too worried about there being non Koreans in the cast.

Expect them to make Korean, Asians, etc … look bad. But that’s the only reason it would be entertaining. Who would really want to watch “normal” and “civilized” people ??? The whole point of the show is to entertain through stupidity. Its a guilty pleasure to watch for most people.

Any even have any idea of when its being aired?
