Where did you grow up?

Maple Grove, Minnesota. Holla.

How and when did you develop a love for fashion?
As a baby my mom used to dress me up in frilly girly dresses with matching bonnets.  Don’t ask — it must have been big back in the ’80s. Every Easter, I would have a matching hat to wear with my new dress. But other than that, with much thanks to my mother, I was fiscally responsible child and was not consumed with fashion. Proof: My mom would buy my long sleeve turtle neck sweater dresses with unicorn images on the front and I wouldn’t fight it. I guess I thought it was legit.

I developed a love for fashion the first time I was dropped off at the mall.  From there, the two headed monster evolved. I was fortunate enough to land a job with a well known contemporary designer in Los Angeles about six years ago and it opened my eyes to the world of the fashion industry. That started me on my path to where I am today. I took my interests in the fashion industry (styling, forecasting trends and luxury designers) and put them all together to build my take of an online fashion publication that is Runwayrundown.com

What’s your favorite physical trait?
Over the years I’ve grown fond of the freckles on my face

Who’s your favorite Korean celebrity?
I hope its not cliche but it seriously is Margaret Cho. Ms Cho if you’re nasty.

What’s your favorite Korean snack?
The entire tray of snacks you get in the Korean karaoke rooms!

What’s on your desk right now?
Crest 3D Whitestripes, iMac, 2 pairs of Ray Bans, Burts Bees chapstick, a 1000 Korean Won (baller), personalized post its with my name on them (currently stuck everywhere), Panasonic Lumix camera, The Sartorialist, Blackberry and the current book im reading “The 4-Hour Workweek”

What are your pet peeves?
When it comes to fashion my pet peeve is girls that don’t know their size and insist on stuffing themselves into clothes that don’t fit. In life, my pet peeve is traffic in LA. Seriously, it’s out of control.

Are you single or attached? What’s your “secret weapon” when it comes to landing a date?
Attached, four years and counting. No secret weapon here, I’m actually bad at dating.  In the past I would never follow through, thus never making it past the first date. My only advice would be to try to find a friend in someone first and let it evolve into a relationship. My best relationships have started as friendships.

Any dating horror stories?
Dating in Los Angeles should be put on your resume if you attempt it, its an exhausting cycle.  So I try to avoid it and have been lucky since I found my man friend four years ago.

What are your quirks?
I find humor in anything and laugh at inappropriate times, for example, during Catholic wedding ceremonies

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
Packed up my bags and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 18.

Who inspires you?

My old boss and co-founder of Creative Recreation, Jai Baek. He isn’t a tale of rags to riches but he is a man to look up to when it comes to doing business and doing it right. I admire him for his dedication, perseverance and willingness to be open to new ideas.  He is the ultimate when it comes to business in the modern day world. He is a traditional Korean man that repeatedly throws himself in the fire with today’s youth, International business contacts and continually comes out on top. And to top it off he is just plain old cool. Also, the fact that he is ranked in the Top 3 earners for Korean Air miles is pretty impressive.

What’s your mantra?
Throw some D’s on it. Only kidding. Mine is borrowed from Samuel Becket, “Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.”

What are your fears?
Missing out on life and a full head of grey hair

I Am KoreAm and proud because I find no fear in trying new things and I do my best to leave a positive impact on everyone.
