Describe your background (where did you grow up, etc.)?

I grew up in Taegu, South Korea and eventually moved to Arizona during middle school. It was always my mom, me and two other siblings. I learned the most from my mom, since we’re closer than my siblings are to her, over the years she’s taught me Korean as well as how to make numerous Korean dishes.

If you could have an endless supply of any food, what would you get?

Probably Korean food. It’s so good! A food in particular would probably be odeng (오뎅), I loved going to the stands in Korea and buying some on cold nights! It’s so tasty!

Tell us about a unique or quirky habit of yours.

I always balance chopsticks or a pencil between my lip and nose (by protruding my lips) when I’m thinking really hard. Chop sticks when I’m eating and pencils or pens when studying.

If you had to describe yourself using three words, it would be…

Animated, silly, and short tempered.

What is one goal you would like to accomplish during your lifetime?

I’d really like to learn more Korean. I know conversational Korean, but am poor with other aspects of the language.

If you could be anybody besides yourself for a day, you would be…

Park Shin Hye because I’d experience acting and singing.

What are your pet peeves or interesting thing about you that you dislike?

My pet peeves are laziness and nail chewing! I’m always on the run so laziness is a turn off!

Name one of your favorite things about someone in your family.

I love my mom’s eyes. I got her wide, almond-shaped eyes. Not only that but we both share a birth mark on our left eye in the same spot. It’s only between us and makes me feel closer to her.

What is the kindest thing that someone has ever done for you?

I had someone pay for my entire meal at an Italian restaurant because it was their anniversary and they overheard me and a friend budgeting. They paid for both of our meals and ordered us extra.

If you could travel to any place in the world, where would it be and why?

I would love to go back to Korea as a mature adult! My Korean friends say my “V-line” on my face would make me popular, but I just want to go back for the culture and have fun. I’d like to see if I could bring my mom back to Taegu as well because that’s where she grew up!

What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten?

Greek food! Ugh! I hate it! It doesn’t taste nor look edible to me!

Do you have any phobias?

A clown phobia!

What do you think the greatest invention in your lifetime is and why?

Laptops! I take my to class all the time. It gets me through the 3 hours.

Do you have any words that you live by?

One must live with no regrets to be happy.

Tell us about the hardest thing you’ve ever done.

It’s lame, but the hardest thing I’ve ever done was probably studying. I study all the time, my hardest, in order to get into nursing school.

How would you describe your style in clothing?

Comfortable.

If you could choose one song to describe your life, what would it be and why?

Forget your heart by Silverstein. (it means more than the title!)

I Am KoreAm and proud because…

it’s the only culture I’ve known since I was raised only by my Korean mom. She’s taught me so much about the culture and now it’s who I am.
