You may have seen this hilarious/sad video, which has taken the internet by storm. A kid is crushed when he finds out he’s not a “Single Lady.”

The apologetic dad, Carolos Whittaker, tells The Early Show that many people have commented on his son’s race. He explains that little Losiah was adopted from South Korea in 2006. Carlos now wants to use these 15 minutes of YouTube fame to bring adoption into the spotlight: “As an adoptive parent, you think you’re going to change a child’s life, but he definitely has changed our life for the better,” he says.

Meanwhile, another adoptee, Korean this time, faces deportation because her adoptive parents failed to complete her U.S. citizenship. KoreAm covered the story here http://iamkoream.com/adopted-korean-woman-facing-deportation/.

Carlos, why not use your website, blog and considerable following to draw attention to this egregious injustice? I searched your site to see if you might have mentioned it, but found nothing on this subject. I did find encouragement to your readers to adopt and attend a faith-based adoption conference that feeds on the misguided notion that biblical references to God’s adoption of humanity are in some way a call to adopt. But I found nothing that speaks to the very real injustices that exist across the adoption experience, like separation of children from parents who want to parent but lack (often only temporarily) the resources to do so, denial of access to birth records to adoptees, and many others.

Please sign the Change.org petition to stop Seo’s deportation:http://immigration.change.org/petitions/view/tell_ice_not_to_deport_woman_adopted_from_korea_as_baby.

ugh, how come adoption stories are always from the AP’s point of view. pretty typical selfish adoptive parents thinking their child is a gift to themselves.

I love the arms-folded, “You really blew it, now, dummy” face the older sister is making.
