It's not 'bastard' food, something that demeans our Korean culture. "Think about our pride when it comes to food," I think this is taking it too far over something petty. Yes it's something that ensued because of the Korean war, and that it manifests the fact that Korea used to be 3rd-world poor, but I see it as reminder of our past so as to not forget our humble roots.

If I wanted to, "Think about our pride..." then I think Koreans should stop starting so many sushi and Japanese-themed restaurants all over Koreatown in Los Angeles. That's a disgrace, to emulate a culture whose people looked as Koreans as beneath them. It's too bad that Koreans miss the point in this by using psuedo-Japanese restaurants as expedients for business, because sadly, Korean cuisine doesn't share the same fame, prestige and elegance as Japanese cuisine.
