The 12th Annual San Diego Asian Film Festival will be taking place from Oct. 20 to Oct. 28 at the Mission Valley UltraStar Cinemas.
As one of the largest film exhibitions of its kind in North America, more than 160 films will premiere from 21 countries. Film director Justin Lin (Better Luck Tomorrow, Fast & Furious) and YouOffendMeYouOffendMyFamily.com have launched a new film initiative entitled INTERPRETATIONS to support aspiring filmmakers. In a nutshell, you make a short film of no more than 3 minutes using the same script we provide (get all the info here).
Join us this weekend at the San Diego Asian Film Festival as we bring INTERPRETATIONS to a conclusion. It promises to be a fun time for all. We’ll be announcing the five winning finalists during the festival’s Gala Awards Dinner this Saturday night, October 23, at the Mission Valley Marriott. Tickets to this event are sold-out, but there’s a free after party immediately following the dinner, which is open to all.
Then, join us the following day (October 24) at 2:10 PM for our final INTERPRETATIONS event. We’ll screen the five winning shorts followed by an engaging conversation/Q&A about the art and business of filmmaking moderated by me and featuring some very distinguished industry professionals including Tony Award-winning playwright David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly), actor Danny Pudi (NBC’s hit show Community) and Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Iris Yamashita (Letters From Iwo Jima). There will also be some surprises that you won’t want to miss. And the best thing is this event is completely FREE thanks to the generosity of everyone at the San Diego Asian Film Fest and our title sponsor Toyota! It’s the new year, and Yim Jae Beum is coming to town! After a sold-out show in Los Angeles last October, he is coming back to hold two U.S. concerts for the 2012 Lunar New Year. Everyone already knows this man can sing!
