Attention iPhone and iPad users. Here’s an app that looks mmm, mmm good.
The Korean Food Dictionary contains more than 130 of Korea’s most exciting foods and beverages, from the classic (bulgogi) to the unusual (bundaeggi: silk worm larva). Search by category, taste, photo or name (Korean or English). There are recipes that you try at home and even a Korean phrases section so you can order food at restaurants and indicate if you would like it prepared in a special way.
The app is $1.99 on iTunes.

With her just released fourth cookbook, chef Ani Phyo shows just how raw and delicious Korean food can be.

When I first heard about the raw food diet craze, I cringed. As someone who loves to eat all things meaty, fatty and bloody, I’ve always looked at anything too health-conscious with a high dose of skepticism. Plus, raw food seemed to be a luxury that only celebrities like Demi Moore, Moby and Donna Karan—those with the wherewithal to hire personal chefs could indulge. This diet that eschews anything prepackaged, processed or cooked at temperatures higher than 104 degrees didn’t jive with me.
Then I met raw food chef Ani Phyo (pronounced pyo).
“I had so much energy I couldn’t sleep,” said Phyo, recounting the effects of her first gourmet raw food meal years ago. “[Eating raw is] ultimately about promoting clean, whole food that hasn’t come from a factory, been processed or has preservatives.”
She’s built a small empire on the health and beauty benefits of raw food. There have been numerous radio and television appearances to go with the growing number of cookbooks. And with her fourth and most recent publication, Ani’s Raw Food Asia: Easy East-West Fusion Recipes, Phyo draws on inspiration from her Korean background and her travels around Asia, making it one of the first culturally themed raw recipe collections.

North Korea Recruits Hackers at School

Two defectors: a former hacker and a hacking teacher say North Korea is shoring up its cyber-warfare units to battle its southern rival as well as the United States.
Following an expedited two-year program at university, students are sent to China or Russia for about one year to solidify their knowledge of hacking and and other technical skills. After the overseas training, they are placed in various warfare units to serve as “cyber-warriors”, Kim said.
The publication said the cyber-warfare unit had its agency status upgraded last year which prompted a boost in hackers from 500 to approximately 3,000.
These “cyberwarriors” are provided with the best environment, and if they graduate with top grades, their parents in the provinces are given the opportunity to live in Pyongyang, Kim said, citing verified information from his former students who are still operating as hackers in the North.

‘Secrets of New York’ host Kelly Choi likes digging deep into forgotten stories of the city

Kelly Choi is hosting a new show on NYC TV called Secrets of New York, which uses archival photos and vintage footage to tell stories about New York City that you might have forgotten about.
Choi may be best-known for her work in the food arena, first as host of “Eat Out New York” on NYC and Bravo’s “Top Chef.” On “Secrets,” though, Choi conveys a mysterious image by wearing black, thanks to help from designer Natalia Danilova.
“I’m imparting that information in an intriguing way,” she says. “I purposely wear a deep red lipstick. I appreciate the visual aspect. Whatever works to get me in the mood for that, I’m open to.”

The United States said it has suspended the planned food aid package to North Korea in light of an upcoming missile launch, according to news reports.
Peter Lavoy, acting assistant secretary of defense for Asian and Pacific security affairs, told the House Armed Services Committee that the rocket test — which North Korea insists is for scientific purposes only — is a violation of the accord reached in February which would send food aid to North Korea in exchange for agreeing to halt missile tests and nuclear activities, according to BBC News.
“We have been forced to suspend our activities to provide nutritional assistance to North Korea largely because we have now no confidence that the monitoring mechanisms to ensure that the food assistance goes to the starving people and not the regime elite,” Lavoy said, according to

I downloaded it and was quite disappointed. Content is basic to say the least, everything you find in this app you can find for free on the internet. I was also upset that I paid $1.99 for this, i know its not alot but when you pay for something that isn’t unique then it seems like a waste, which it most definitely was. Stay away at all costs
